Tasira Strimban-Barishev was born, raised and educated in Moscow, Russia. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Moscow Academy of Art and Architecture, she continued to take private art classes to further improve her artistic ability. Ms. Strimban-Barishev's work has been displayed in many exhibitions worldwide. Her paintings are included in private collections in Switzerland, Germany, Russia and Canada. Today, Ms. Strimban-Barishev continues to paint and exhibit her work in galleries across Toronto.

Although Ms. Strimban-Barishev loves being an artist, her biggest passion is teaching. Her knowledge, dedication and love for art inspires her students to perform at their best. She first began by teaching art classes in her home. As the number of her students grew, Ms. Strimban-Barishev realized the need in the Scarborough area for a place where students can obtain artistic instruction and education. Out of this realization the Barishev Art School opened its doors in 2001 to all those interested in understanding and creating art.  Over the past six years the school has flourished and the number of students has tripled.  While the General Art Program is the foundation course of study, new subjects like Art History, Architecture, Portraiture and Animation have been added to the school's offerings. 

Tasira’s passion for nature and art led her into the botanical illustration field where she could pursue both interests as well as exercise her talents for precision drawing and painting.  From her architectural experience she developed an acute sensitivity for line and color that she was able to translate into her work as an botanical lillustrator. Tasira is an active member of Botanical Artists of Canada. She also teaches all levels of botanical drawing and painting classes.  As well,  Tasira has conducted many workshops and master classes to nurture and cultivate an artistic approach to botanical art work among her students.
